Covid update 29 March

29 Mar 2022

Many of you will be coping with staff shortages and managing staff RAT requirements as Omicron continues to sweep over the motu.

Ensure you are taking advantage of the financial support available such as the short-term absence payments and leave support scheme.

Vaccine passes are no longer mandatory for applicable businesses from next Tuesday morning but businesses can continue to require them if they choose. There will be an announcement on Monday afternoon about a possible change to the current red traffic light setting. There are no indications yet whether the nationwide setting will be changed to orange or green or whether there will be different settings in different regions.

There is no longer a requirement to scan in or for a business to display a QR code poster or have mandatory record keeping. In the meantime, face mask rules remain unchanged – face masks are still required in most indoor settings but you do not need to wear a face mask outside.

Let’s hope that this Omicron wave washes away soon and we can return to some sense of normality in our home and work lives.
