This code supports not only plant health but also contributes to household food security by safeguarding the ability to grow fresh produce during challenging weather conditions.

We regularly advocate with local water authorities, like Wellington Water, to ensure that plant producers can continue essential irrigation during periods of drought or water restrictions.

Our advocacy has led to clarifications that allow nurseries to water plants under good practice guidelines, and we’ve secured recognition of water use in food production, ensuring homegrown fruit and vegetables can be irrigated during water bans.
