Plant Imports System Reform workshops - Hawkes Bay and Auckland

03 Jul 2025

Plant importers continue to grapple with an outdated, slow plant import system. MPI have been told by the Minister to "fix it" and reform the system. They are running a series of workshops to get insights and feedback from users of the system to gain a greater understanding about the specific issues and pain points.

The first workshop was held in Wellington on 25th March and was well attended by many of our members. Now MPI are building on that and holding further full-day workshops in Napier and Auckland.

NZPPI encourages you to attend these and share your perspectives. Please come prepared to share specific examples of where the current system is falling short. Whether it’s delays, costs, regulatory hurdles, or missed opportunities - MPI want to hear your stories.

Further workshops:

Hawkes Bay - 25th July with a focus on importers in the food and fibre sector.

Auckland - 8th August with a focus on Greenlife and retail importers.
