National Gardening Week 2025: 5 ways to activate your customers

15 Sep 2025

Gardening helps grow communities… and your business. National Gardening Week is back again 20-27 October 2025 including Labour Day weekend and it promises to be bigger than ever with this year’s theme ‘Communities in Bloom’.

National Gardening Week, made possible thanks to Yates, is a prime opportunity to celebrate gardening and raise our public profile, highlighting the many benefits of our greenlife sector and offering an opportunity to attract new and younger gardeners. Here's how you can get involved:

1. Your online community
Get started early to excite customers on your social networks, your website and direct mail. We encourage NZPPI members to download and use the official National Gardening Week logo - the higher the visibility, the more we all benefit. Take a look at our resources available.

2. Your club community
Consider inviting garden clubs to in-store workshops or demos to boost customer numbers and drive sales while aligning with a feel-good, community-driven initiative.

3. Your in-store customers
October will be a perfect time to create flower-themed displays and in-store promotions. Include the National Gardening Week logo in your displays to maximise engagement.

4. Your new gardeners
Together with Yates, we’re developing inspiration for new gardeners to tap into the growing trend of sustainable, mindful living.

5. Go Gardening Special
Our popular Go Gardening Magazine is launching a special edition to coincide with National Gardening Week, a 48-page bumper edition which has been enthusiastically received by our garden retailers. There are still some print copies available - otherwise we’ll share the digital version with you in October to inspire your customers. Contact us for more details.

See our National Gardening Week 2025 Resources and contact us with your ideas and suggestions.
