Plant Pass has introduced a new sector auditor model to strengthen the integrity, consistency and scalability of certification.
Enhancing the audit experience
As more nurseries join the Plant Pass scheme, the new model strengthens consistency across audits, which maintains confidence in the Plant Pass certification process and delivers stronger assurance.
This sector-wide approach establishes a structured pathway for appointing auditors, combining independent auditing with central coordination.
For producers, this means audits will be carried out by people with proven nursery knowledge and sector-specific experience. In addition, by broadening the auditor base, we can provide more timely support to nurseries and reduce barriers to certification, while upholding the integrity of the programme.
Support for transition to refreshed checklist
The model has been developed alongside the refreshed Plant Pass Checklist Version 2.0, ensuring both the standards and the auditing process are aligned to best practice biosecurity risk management.
Note that the Plant Pass Checklist Version 2.0 Consultation document contains details of a transition period and support offered for the change between checklist versions.
Implementation of the new model is underway, with further development and integration over the coming months.
