New established pests portal

28 Oct 2025

The New Zealand Established Pests Portal, developed by the Ministry for Primary Industries/Biosecurity New Zealand, centralises information on introduced established pests under management. It provides quick access to resources on pest identification, control methods, and regulatory requirements – including Regional Pest Management Plans.

This tool covers non-native plants, animals, insects, and other organisms that have become established. Use the filters to access plant producer relevant information on regional and national regulatory status, pest distribution, and control programmes. See instructions within the portal.

Created following the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment's 2021 report, the portal enables collaboration between citizen scientists, researchers and government agencies to protect New Zealand's biodiversity and industries.
