Fuel price increases on plant production and delivery

31 Mar 2026

NZPPI has sent an open letter to plant buyers and retailers to explain the impact of fuel price increases on production and delivery costs.

Our industry is currently facing a rapid and unprecedented increase in transport costs driven by the outbreak of war in the Middle East. Our objective is to ensure the continuity of the supply of plants to retailers and the long-term sustainability of the industry.

NZPPI is part of a government and industry group monitoring the impact of the Middle East situation on primary industries.  This group provides regular updates and insights about how other primary industries are dealing with the situation. We have also contacted the Commerce Commission seeking guidance on how similar sectors such as supermarkets are managing fuel-related cost pressures within the rules of the Grocery Supply Code.

NZPPI is keeping members updated as we gain new information, or if anything changes. In the meantime please get in touch with any questions or concerns. Email office@nzppi.co.nz.
