Mitre 10 and Zealandia launch plant pot recycling trial

20 May 2021

Join Mitre 10 and Zealandia to help keep troublesome plastic plant pot waste ending up in landfills.

Three Mitre 10 stores - Mitre 10 MEGA Henderson, Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga and Mitre 10 MEGA New Plymouth - are now accepting CLEAN pots and plant labels made from plastics 1, 2, and 5. This is a trial to determine whether returned pots are clean enough to recycle, so it's essential to clean your pots before returning them. If the trial receives too many dirty pots, the programme won't roll out nationally.

The pots are shredded, remoulded into new pots by Zealandia Horticulture, then refilled with healthy new plants, and the cycle continues!

To learn more go to Mitre 10's website here.

If you have any questions, please contact Mitre 10 Sustainability Manager Julie Roberts julie.roberts@mitre10.co.nz.

Gather up, clean up, then show up at the plant pot recycling station!
