New Zealand emerging from the bubble

On Wednesday 24 March, NZ Plant Producers Alice Schofield and Alix Walles attended Ngā Kōrero Whai Take - Conversations that Count. The event was themed around New Zealand emerging from the bubble, held over breakfast at Te Papa in Wellington.

The event was well organised and run by Massey University, Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and The Spinoff. Speakers were Chlöe Swarbrick, Cameron Bagrie, Professor Jan Thomas, Wayne Mulligan, Professor Brian Lucid, and Stacey Morrison.

Content focused on industry investment in innovation and the positive change that can happen for our workforce if there is focus on education, professional development, assessing future needs, and living with risk.

The issues shaping Aotearoa due to COVID-19 and the border closure have been present for a long time. COVID-19 has brought these issues to the surface, such as the skill shortage, climate change, education, the aging workforce, innovation in the primary industries, and it is important for our industry that we are working together to ensure we have positive change for the future of our industry.
