The Nursery Production Farm Management System (FMS) is a tool to assist nurseries in their journey towards nursery and environmental best practice. Licensed from Australia where they've spent the best part of two decades undertaking research and building nursery production infrastructure, we've now 24 New Zealand businesses in the programme ... more about the FMS.

Two key programme concepts are continuous improvement and learning. To that end in March we're pleased to host John McDonald, (National Biosecurity Manager NGI Australia) will host workshops for both existing programme participants and those aspiring to a well founded evidence based approach to business development and improvement.

Join John for the day and work with him on through things that will help you inprove:

  • Liverwort control – a whole nursery approach to keep it in check
  • Media manufacturing & monitoring - new developments, at delivery, during production cycle
  • Water & waste water management – managing large flows, storage, use of wetlands, irrigation emitters
  • Hygiene in propagation – prep tables, disinfectants, pot cleaning
  • Nursery waste management – environmental accountability


  • Free to current participants of the NGINZ's Farm Management System
  • $250 to NGINZ members not in FMS*
  • $350 to non-NGINZ members*

* If you join the FMS programme within 6 months of the workshops, we'll credit your workshop fee against the FMS programme fee.
