NZ Plant Producers has many opportunities to get involved in your industry this year. In February, our board is up for its annual rotation and we will be seeking nominations for two of its seats. Other governance opportunities will arise throughout the year in our Special Interest Groups and Subcommittees, as well as plenty of events to get involved in!
NZPPI Board:
We will shortly seek nominations for the Sector Board Members representing food production (excluding orchards and nurseries) and forestry.
Sector Board members sit for a term of three years, with four Board meetings each year. Board members are remunerated for their time, and governance training is available.
This is a great opportunity to make the most of your membership by regularly connecting with other industry leaders. In these changing and challenging times our industry needs leaders with strong ideas who are willing to stand up and be counted – does this sound like you?
Nomination papers and further information will be distributed in February. In the meantime, please seriously consider standing up for New Zealand’s vital plant production industry.
To learn more about the Board roles and activities, contact your Sector Board Member. If you are unsure who your sector Board Member is, please check here on our website.
Special Interest Groups:
We will also be announcing opportunities as they arise to stand for our Special Interest Groups, which represent specialist groups within the industry.
Our current SIGs are:
- Native Nursery
- Plant Trolleys
- Science Subcommittee
- Water Working Group
- Retail Supply Chain (proposed)
As mentioned last year, we are seeking to form a new Retail Supply Chain SIG. If you haven’t already done so, please read the proposal and let us know what you think.
Please get in touch (office@nzppi.co.nz) if you would like to get involved in this new SIG.
Events:
Young Achiever will be back and better than ever in 2021 (after a slight road block in 2020…)
Watch this space for more details, but if you would like to get involved please contact Alix Walles at alix@nzppi.co.nz
NZPPI also offers SHED meetings throughout the year. Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming events near you.
SHED stands for See, Hear, Engage, Debate. They are a chance for members from around a region to come together to connect and share ideas and expertise.
Our next SHED meeting will be held in the Bay of Plenty at Tharfield nursery. To book, please register here. We would love to see you there.
For more information regarding any of the above, please contact the NZPPI office at office@nzppi.co.nz
We look forward to working with you.
